[back]    [more sandhill crane]

Our property is home to two endangered species of bird.
Audubon's Crested Caracara (a type of falcon) and Florida's Sand Hill Crane

It is reported that only 500 Crested Caracara live in Florida with none reported any further north than Ocala. They are extremely territorial birds of prey so I assume the two I have observed are a mated pair.

We have generations of Sand Hill Crane  living on the property.  These are very friendly birds and if they trust you will come up and eat out of your hand. Just this summer the pair brought their young over to meet us what a thrill!
